  1. Fistral Beach Newquay TR7 1HY

Grab your wet suit, board and a laissez-faire attitude to visit Britain’s famous home of surfing. Riding the waves isn’t a problem here regularly reaching 8 feet. This large beach is the perfect spot if you are looking for something more than relaxing by the coast. Events take place all year round, including Europe’s largest surf and skating festival – Boardmasters, with shops and restaurants a stone’s throw away this is always a great day out for the family and your canine companions are welcome too at this dog friendly spot!

If you are staying close to the picturesque fishing village, Port Isaac, we recommend this beach. Popular with families and dog friendly this narrow cove beach sits on the north coast of Cornwall. Enjoy breath-taking views of the magnificent cliffs as you follow the coast path next to the jade waters or if you enjoy diving, during the high tide this is an excellent diving beach! Once you’ve enjoyed a day of frolicking in the clear waters and building sandcastle’s there is a pub in walking distance where you can refuel and relax.

Located one mile from St Ives, this award-winning blue flag beach is a must-visit if you are looking for somewhere to relax and swim in the big blue. The low tides keep surfers away making it perfect for paddling in the waters with little ones. Flourishing with subtropical plants complimented with a sparkling coastline you may think you have travelled much further afield - we aren’t surprised this featured in the Most Beautiful Bays in the World Organisation.

This secluded spot is easily accessed from the new toll road and there is a quaint café, which has been open for almost 100 years – the perfect spot to enjoy a Cornish pasty or scone whilst watching the sun set.

Located in Mevagissey the historic, charming fishing town has a working harbour. There are plenty of coves to see along the stretches of sandy beach and with many rock formations you will undoubtedly see a fossil enthusiast or two exploring. This sand and shingle beach boasts calmer waters and is a great spot for basking in the sun or relaxing by the sea. If you’re looking to strip off, there is an officially unrecognised nudist beach at the far end!

This Blue Flag, crescent of silky sands is a 10-minute walk from Falmouth’s town centre. There is plenty of room to spread out at this spacious spot and the sea is suitable for all types of swimmers making this perfect place to visit for all the family. The car park is conveniently located but before you leave be sure to check out Gylly Beach Café serving fresh seafood and the sounds of local musicians.

Nestle in the shelter of the soaring cliff tops on the soft sands and enjoy watching the sapphire sea as you relax and take in your surroundings or dip your toes into the the flowing stream trickling down one side of the beach. The 1920s, internationally known Minack Theatre attracts visitors all year round and sits on cliff tops. This beach is popular with families and keeps them coming back for more.

Once you’re done, dry off and head for a bite to eat or drink at one of the many pubs and restaurants around this mini paradise.

This is one of the larger beaches Cornwall has to offer, with stretches of golden sands backed by sand dunes and wild grass you’re guaranteed to find a spot. If you’re not a surfer you can ponder around the many rockpools, take a towel and set up on the beach or enjoy people watching.
