If you want to stay somewhere with its own piece of history then visit the Adult Only Cheddar Bridge Touring Park. It is part of a Roman, Anglo Saxon and Norman ancient monument and not only does it boast fabulous views of the Mendip Hills, but the River Yeo passes through the campsite.
Touring caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents and tents are all welcome, or you can rent a static caravan, they sleep 4 and are equipped with TV, DVD and microwave. There are two caravans by the river overlooking the River Yeo and two in the garden. You can also rent holiday apartments.
The site includes showers, toilets, laundry facilities, rubbish and waste disposal points, use of a fridge/freezer and a dishwashing room.
The on- site shop sells basic food supplies, gas and electric hook ups.
If you don't want to cook there's a restaurant, a pub and a takeaway nearby.
Off- site you can enjoy a game of golf or horse riding, or you can explore the Cheddar gorge and caves which are within walking distance.
Take the car and visit the beautiful city of Bath. The Royal Crescent, the Circus and Pulteney Bridge are fine examples of Georgian architecture and the Jane Austin Centre and the Roman Baths give you a glimpse of Bath's fascinating history.
The town's 6 shopping areas are a wealth of independent boutiques and shops, as well as the usual big named stores. Visit the glass house and you can buy glassware made in Bath. There are glass blowing demonstrations at the Theatre of Glass in Walcot Street and you can try your hand at blowing a glass bubble!
The seaside resort of Weston Super Mare is also a great day out and you can also explore Wookey Hole Caves, Glastonbury and Somerset levels and villages.
Cheddar Bridge Touring Park in an excellent location, it's perfect if you want to get out and about, but it's also just as nice to stay on site and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
