Waterside House Campsite
Located on the northern shores of Ullswater in the Lake District, Waterside House is a perfectly situated family-run campsite.

The park is located at the foot of Barton Fell. Waterside House makes a great base for mountain biking, walking, sailing, fishing and pony trekking.

* Furnished Tipi: These include: Wooden floors with carpet * Double futon bed * Two single inflatable mattresses * Throws, Rugs and Cushions * Lamps * Pots and Pans and Cutlery * Bowls * Cooking utensils * Sharp knives * Collander * Corkskrew * Plastic beakers * Wooden bench for outside eating * Fire pit * Gas stove. You need to bring your own bedding i.e. duvet and pillows
The same family has run the farm and the campsite for 5 generations.
Waterside House's farmhouse dates back to 1694. It is part of a working farm that covers 279 acres. You can see a flock of Swaledale Ewes at the park that spend most of their day at nearby Barton Fell.
During certain times of the year you can even see the sheep being dipped or sheared. You can even witness the birth of a lamb. During your stay you will most definitely see sheepdogs at work.
In the fields around the campsite you will see cattle and calves being reared during the summer months.
OUT AND ABOUT:
Just 1 mile from the campsite is the lovely village of Pooley Bridge. You can easily reach the village by road or from the lakeshore footpath.
* Pooley Bridge has local shops, cafes and a few inns that can sell you wonderful bar food and traditional real ales.
* Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens
* Lowther Castle and Gardens
* Ullswater 'Steamers' create the perfect opportunity to combine a lake cruise with some of the most famous and spectacular walks in the Lake District.
* Rheged Indoor Visitor Centre: There are indoor and outdoor play areas and pottery painting workshops and if you are feeling hungry a selection of cafes offering fresh food with a distinct Cumbrian flavour. Plus 3D Cinema with biggest screen for miles around.
DIRECTIONS:
From junction 40 of the M6 motorway take the A66 signposted Keswick.
After one mile turn left onto the A592 for Ullswater and Pooley Bridge.
Turn left at the lake, continue straight on and then over the river into Pooley Bridge.Go through the village and take the first right to Howtown, continue along the this road.
Waterside House is the second campsite on the right- approximately one mile.
There is a lakeshore footpath from Pooley Bridge to the campsite.
Penrith is a west coast mainline station.
