Wasdale National Trust Campsite

Nestled under the Scafell mountain range, Wasdale National Trust Campsite lies at the head of the lovely Wastwater which is the deepest lake in England. It has a distinctive Nordic character and you can see the pyramidal peak of Great Gable reflected in the waters of Wastwater.

Wasdale National Trust Campsite is a stunning place that is made attractive by its remote location and its total and utter peace. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the site's dramatic landscape. Within striking distance from Wasdale Campsite is England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, and there are many other high fell walking routes to enjoy.

Wasdale is the birthplace of British rock climbing and offers true mountaineering in the surrounding fells. The site is a great base for climbers of all abilities. From the valley you can enjoy class routes such as Napes Needle and Central Buttress. You can canoe at Wastwater but there is a limit of no more than 15 on the lake at a time.
