Camping & Caravanning

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Leadstone is a traditional non-commercialised camping site.

They open from the 1st of June and close in early September. The site has been personally and managed and owned by the same family since 1974. The current managers Andrew and Sarah look forward to welcoming guests. They like to see familiar faces year after year.

Guests can easily reach the lovely sands and dunes of Dawlish Warren's Blue Flag beach from the site. It takes just an easy and safe half a mile walk from the site to get there. On the way guests will find a family-oriented pub that serves great bar meals during the middle of the day and in the evenings. Pavements near the site are wide and safe for children and prams.

The Exe Estuary bounds The Warren on one side. On the other side are miles of golden sandy beach. There is plenty of territory for guests to explore. The Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve features 500 acres of natural beauty and flowering plants. It is nestled in the centre of the Warren and is free and open to the public at all times. It is truly a bird watchers paradise. Nearby there are a number of shops, supermarkets and boot sales. Just 5 minutes away by bus guests can enjoy very good shopping in Dawlish town.

Leadstone is set in over 7 acres of rolling grassland in a natural secluded bowl. They have plenty of level pitches for tents, motor homes and caravans. A majority of them feature electric hook-up points. There is parking available next to every pitch.

• Starcross - play golf at Oak Meadow, then take the ferry to Exmouth.

• Powderham - a real 14th century English Castle.

• Teignmouth - a busy resort & port with sea and river beaches.

• Shaldon - quaint riverside village with a par three golf course

• Bishopsteignton - a village with a vineyard!

• Newton Abbot - old market town with Wednesday cattle market. National Hunt racecourse with a dozen summer meetings.

• Torbay - the English Riviera resorts of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

• Plant World - Devon's "little outdoor Eden" - fantastic views!

• Exeter - cathedral city with maritime museum and Princesshay shopping centre plus fabulous `Riverside' indoor pool.

• Paignton - the famous Zoo and steam railway to Kingswear & Dartmouth.

• Crealy - the great adventure park. Marvellous for your little 'uns. Highly recommended.

• Rock Gardens at Chudleigh - about 8 acres of wild gardens, ponds, a Rock Walk and more.

• Trago Mills - out-of-town shopping centre with miniature railway, coarse fishing, children's entertainment's, etc. - quite unique

• Devon Wildlife Centre - home of the Hedgehog Hospital and.. feed the chipmunks and lambs

• Canonteign Falls - England’s highest waterfall, descending a staggering 220 ft, it is breathtaking.

• Dartmoor - National Park. Over 365 square miles of of beautiful moorlands to be explored. Bring your wellies and a compass.

• Totnes - ancient riverside town. Have a good look around before going onto the Woodlands Adventure Park. Great for kids, wet or dry.

• Buckfastleigh - visit Buckfast Abbey, the Butterfly Farm and then take a trip on the Dart Valley Steam Railway.

• The Pennywell farm centre is a great day out for the whole family.

• Moretonhampstead - The Miniature Pony Centre - everybody's favourite day out.

• Dartmouth - world-famous yachtsman's haven. A must for boat watchers. Try the river trip - it's fabulous!

• Plymouth - The Hoe, the Barbican, the Navy, and make sure you visit the National Marine Aquarium
