Byreside Caravan Site
Located in the historic Derwent Valley, Byreside Caravan Site is situated on a family-run farm. They have facilities and interests that will suit your whole family.
Byreside Caravan Site is quiet and secluded and wildlife abounds. In the woods you can see birds of all kinds and those with goods eyes will see foxes and deer. You may also see Red Kites in skies above Byreside.
Derwent Walk Country Park is accessible from the site for walkers and cyclists. It links up to the Waskerley Way and the Lanchester Valley Walk.
The district looms large with history. Within easy reach of the site is Ebchester and its Roman Museum. Also near is Derwentcote Blast Furnace which is a relic from the Industrial Revolution. On most summer weekends the Tanfield Railway steam locomotives are in operation. You can visit Causey Arch which is reputed to be the world's oldest railway bridge. Down the valley from Byreside is Gibside Chapel which is the mausoleum of the Bowes family.
The internationally reputed Beamish Open Air Museum is only 8 miles away from the site. The museum needs more than one visit to be appreciated. You can visit Gateshead Metro Centre, one of Europe's largest indoor shopping venues, with a 15 minute drive on the A694. In less than an hour from the site you can get to Hadrians Wall, Weardale, Newcastle or Durham. We are a shiort drive from the Angel of the North.

DIRECTIONS
From the A1(M): Exit the A1 at Swalwell onto the A694 towards Consett. Follow this road for about 7miles, then turn left onto the B6310 at Hamsterley Mill, towards Medomsley and Consett. Continue on this road for about 1/2 a mile then take a right turn towards High Westwood. Follow this road for about 800 yards and we are situated on the right hand side. (We are signposted from the A694.)
