Pitton Cross Caravan and Camping Park

Open all year round, Pitton Cross Caravan and Camping is a family-run touring park. They are located on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales which is about 16 miles from Swansea. They are the only caravan and camping park near Rhossili and the Worms Head.

Pitton Cross Caravan and Camping Park caters for touring caravans, tents and motor homes. Their pitches are on level ground and they are well-spaced around the field edges. They have a dog free area on-site and several hard standings for motor homes.

The park has pitches that offer extensive sea views. Pitton Cross Caravan and Camping Park is set amid scenic coastline, rugged cliffs that are ideal for climbing, sandy bays and secluded coves that provide endless walking opportunities. There are also opportunities in the area for surfing, kite flying, hang gliding and Parascending.

The Gower Peninsula was Britain's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and it consists of mix of small farms, open common and moorland, sand dunes and rugged limestone sea cliffs. The land is criss-crossed by ancient footpaths and country lanes. There are small rural villages that are tucked into the hilly landscape and others that enjoy the shelter offered by headlands. Places like Rhossili are set on an exposed cliff top position where they endure the variable Atlantic weather.

Visitors can walk on the sea bed at low tide because of the exceptionally high tidal range in the Bristol Channel. The tide goes out a long way exposing many acres of seabed and gives access to a number of coastal islets, Mumbles Head, Worms Head and Burry Holmes. It is the place with the second highest tidal range in the world.

A great place to visit is Swansea which is a regional shopping centre. It offers a mix of high street outlets, local shops, a large indoor market, major supermarkets, cinemas and night spots.

You can learn about Swansea's past and present at the Swansea Marina and the recently opened National Waterfront Museum. You can take the road train for a ride along the huge curve of Swansea Bay as far as Mumbles which is a seaside village with boats, shopping, beaches, entertainment and a Victorian Pier.

Visitors can explore some of Swansea's parks and gardens, Singleton with its hot houses and botanical gardens, Cwmdonkin which was a favourite haunt of Dylan Thomas, or Clyne with its huge collection of Rhododendrons and Azalias which are spectacular in May and the tallest Magnolia in the UK. All of these places are well worth a visit.
