Camping & Caravanning

Highside Farm is a working smallholding in an area of outstanding natural beauty near Middleton-in-Teesdale in the Northern Pennines. The camp site is set within an area of outstanding natural beauty and enjoys extensive views over Lunedale and Teesdale.

We have quiet camping facilities for tents and caravans on a small site with toilets, showers, facilities for washing up and electric hook up.

Most of the animals on the farm are the traditional breeds that would have been here in the past; Teeswater sheep, Shorthorn cattle and a variety of rare breed pigs.

Our hens wander freely around the farm and campers can usually buy our fresh farm eggs. We can also usually provide breakfasts for campers if booked in advance

From our holding we produce rare breed meat and a range of woollen yarns.

Highside Farm is well sited for walking, canoeing on the River Tees and fishing on the Tees or several local reservoirs. We are close to High Force and The Bowes Museum and less than one hour from the Lake District.

DIRECTIONS

We are situated on the B6276 from Middleton-in-Teesdale to Brough, approximately two miles from Middleton. Link to our website (Top of page) to see full details and a map.

The turn into the site is tight if you approach from the east. If towing a trailer or caravan visitors should pass the farm, swing round in the large lay-by a little further on and approach down hill from the west.
