Westgate Caravan & Camping Site

Westgate Caravan & Camping Site is a family run, quiet and friendly site set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in upper Weardale. It is open from 10th March - 31st October 2017 inclusive.

There are 16 hard standings with an area for tents (hook-up facilities available). The River Wear runs past the site and there is a ford where children can play (cars also use the ford so children must be supervised).

Please note Westgate Caravan & Camping Site only take couples and families only (maximum 3 couples together). We do not take groups (the organised Duke of Edinburgh Awards are an exception).

There is a small toilet block with shower facilities and there is a waste disposal point. Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead and under control.

Westgate Caravan & Camping Site has 30 Statics (owner occupied) on the site and there are sometimes Caravans for sale and sites available.

There are lovely walks in the area - a must is Slit Wood. For younger children there is a play park in the village. There is an outdoor swimming pool in Stanhope where you will also find some shops and the Dales Centre. Killhope Wheel and Lead Mine are nearby. A bus runs from Stanhope to Cowshill. Hexham, Alston, Teesdale and Consett are only a 30 minute car journey.

There is a small co-op in Westgate for necessities and the Hare and Hounds Pub renowned for their Sunday Carvery.
