Brightlycott Barton
Brightlycott Barton is a 4 acre south facing caravan and camping site near Barnstaple in North Devon with excellent panoramic views.
The site consists of 20 level pitches with electric hook-ups (16 amp) plus an area for tents. There is an indoor games room and a swing frame for younger children.
There is a new facilities block with 6 showers, a room for the disabled and laundry and wash up facilities.
Barnstaple is only 2 miles away with its excellent bars, great restaurants and big name high street shopping. This is only part what of makes the town special though, its independent boutique shops, proud local food producers selling their delicacies in the Pannier Market and the town's colourful history are what make it a unique place to visit.
The coastline stretches from Hartland to Lynton. Most of this coastline is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Visitors might be interested in walking part of the Tarka Trail, which is a pedestrian and cycle way that runs in a 180 mile figure-of-eight. The trail goes through landscapes that haven't changed much since Henry Williamson described them in his classic 1927 novel Tarka the Otter.
The trail is a great and sustainable way to explore the Biosphere Reserve from the coast, through deeply cut river valleys with ancient woodland to the productive farmland and moorland higher up the in the valleys and hills.
The Tarka Trail goes through the towns of Lynmouth, Barnstaple, Bideford, Torrington, Okehampton and Ilfracombe and parts of it coincide with the South West Coast Path, the Two Moors Way and the Dartmoor Way.
