Killegruer Caravan Site is situated on the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula, 12 miles north of Campbeltown and 24 miles south of Tarbert, Loch Fyne. It enjoys superb views across the Atlantic Ocean towards the islands of Gigha, Islay and Jura.
From your tent or caravan you can frequently see seals ,otters and dolphins. Oyster catchers, buzzard, swans and eider duck are also regular visitors.
Killigruer's beach is very popular with surfers and this is one of the fastest growing sports in the area. Nearby beaches at Machrihanish and Westport are also suitable for surfing.
The area around the campsite is ideal for walking whether it be along the beach or through the woods to the village shop. The Kintyre Way runs along the length of the peninsula and a forest road adjacent to the nearby village of Bellochantuy leads to the north end of Lussa Loch where it joins the main Kintyre Way.
For the golfing enthusiasts there are a number of excellent golf courses in Kintyre, each one presenting its own particular challenges! Nearby courses include Machrihanish, Southend and Carradale.
DIRECTIONS
From Glasgow take the M8 heading towards Greenock, as far as Erskine bridge and follow the signs for Campbeltown and the A82. The A82 will take you alongside Loch Lomond where it becomes the A83. Continue to follow signs for Campbeltown, the site is 12 miles North of Campbeltown and approximately 30 minutes South of Tarbert Loch Fyne.
