Martleaves Farm Campsite

Martleaves Farm Campsite is located between Weymouth and Portland in Dorset on the stunning Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The campsite is open 365 days a year with hard standing pitches available during wet weather.

Set in 34 acres of glorious countryside, this is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) and a haven for nature lovers and bird watchers. Nestling on the coastline adjacent to the world famous Chesil Beach we are lucky enough to have all the benefits of the rural countryside, the nearby seaside town of Weymouth, and Portland, the site of the 2012 Olympics.

Please be aware we are a working farm and at times there will be horses walked through the campsite from the stables early in the mornings, manure (!), and occasional noise from farm machinery.

We have alpacas, Shetland ponies, horses, pet pigs, free range chicken, ducks and sheep here so dogs should be kept on leads until away from the farm.

We have a footpath leading down to the sea which is just 300 metres from the farm where dogs can be let off their leads. Guests are asked not to enter the fields where the horses are grazing and not to feed any of the animals on the farm as many of them are on restricted diets.

In the farmhouse porch we have for sale our free range rare breed chicken, bantam and duck eggs when available along with homemade marmalade, jam and chutney, fresh cakes and produce from the gardens.

We have designated areas for campfires and firewood is for sale at the farmhouse door. Disposable bbq's or anything which will burn our grass are not permitted.

Our South Road entrance should be used for the Campsite as the Rymead Lane entrance is no longer used for vans and is kept locked.

OUT AND ABOUT

Weymouth town centre and main sandy beach are less than 2 miles away and here you will also find a variety of dining possibilities from fine harbour side restaurants to traditional fish and chips.

The National Sailing Academy on Portland is also only a 5 minute car journey away.

Right on your doorstep however is access to the South Dorset Coastal Path and breathtaking views as you walk along the 'Fleet' a natural lagoon designated a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) located behind the mighty Chesil beach.

Chesil Beach is world famous, particularly for fishing. Chesil Bank and the Fleet Lagoon provide Britain with one of its most remarkable lengths of coastline and a rich diversity of wildlife.

The Fleet Observer takes guests on an hour long trip around the lower reaches of the Fleet Lagoon and Portland Harbour.

We have a secluded beach at the bottom of our land and a sandy cove just five minutes away which never becomes crowded even in peak season. The Fleet is a saltwater estuary which runs 10 miles along to Abbotsbury and is very safe for swimming.
