Linwater Caravan Park

Situated on open farmland just west of Edinburgh, Linwater Caravan Park is a tranquil, family-run park that caters to touring caravans, motor homes and tents. Guests can enjoy all of the delights of Scotland's capital city and then head west to enjoy the quiet and tranquillity of the countryside.

Linwater Caravan Park is a 4-Star park that opened in 1998. They feature 60 spacious, level grass pitches. A majority of the pitches have 16 amp electric hook-ups.

The site now has some hard standings available and a separate sheltered tenting area that has designated pitches where you can park your car alongside your tent. In this area they have their new Timbertents. During busy times they have additional tent pitches further down the park where you can also park your car alongside your tent.

Their Scandinavian style amenity building offers great facilities such as free showers and private cubicles. They keep these immaculately clean for their visitors. They also have a small laundry, a separate disabled shower room and a dish washing area.

They have a small reception that is full of tourist information to help you plan your stay. They have information for venturing into Edinburgh, the local area and further afield. Because there are many shops and supermarkets in the area they only have a few sweets for sale at their site. You can get milk, newspapers and rolls from the site every day though. Subject to availability, you can buy bacon from Alastair's saddleback pigs and eggs from his hens from the reception.

The site allows well-behaved dogs and children. They have a large sandpit with plenty of toys for children where they can dig and build.

If you bring your dog you should keep it on a lead around the park. The owners' dogs might be running around without their leads on though to check out the visitors.

Linwater Caravan Park is very proud that they have been awarded the David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award for the past few years. They do their best to look after the environment.

TIMBER TENTS

Timber Tents provide a warm and dry alternative to camping. Guests still bring all of their camping equipment but they no longer have to worry about putting up and taking down their tent in the wind, rain or dark. Timber Tents are perfect for those that might be heading north or south and want to stopover without erecting a tent. You can even stay in them for a few days in more comfort and visit Edinburgh and the surrounding area.

They currently have 4 Timber Tents, 3 of which have a double mattress and 2 singles on raised beds. These Timber Tents can sleep up to 4 people comfortably. Their fourth Timber Tent has 3 singles on raised beds. Each one is fully-insulated which makes them ideal for use early and late in the season. They include a kettle, a heater and a small fridge. Outside of them is a picnic table that only you can use. They ask that all cooking is done outside because the cabins are made completely from wood.

Linwater Caravan Park is ideally situated for visiting Edinburgh, the Royal Highland Showground, home of the famous Royal Highland Show in June and many other shows and exhibitions. Just 1 mile away is the Falkirk Wheel, and the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena with the "only indoor covered climbs on natural rock in the world."
