Situated on the original Buxton to London Roman road, The Duke of York caters for tents, motor homes and caravans and is open all year round. The site is within the Peak District National Park and overlooks some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Derbyshire Dales.
The public house has a traditional English feel. It has a main lounge that is locally known as the Top Bar and a small lounge adjacent to the restaurant which is known as the Bottom Bar. The main lounge offers a real fire that is a warm welcome to guests in the colder months.
The restaurant offers full 3 course meals that you can enjoy in the restaurant. You can also choose to dine more informally in the lounge or the beer garden. The site's 2 professional chefs create fabulous dishes from fresh local produce whenever possible. They also serve bar snacks and a range of teas and coffees. The meals and snacks are served every day between 12 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. A traditional roast is available all day Sunday.
The site welcomes people from all walks of life which results in a very easy going and friendly atmosphere in the pub.
The campsite is basic and unspoilt. It can accommodate tents, caravans and motor homes. Facilities include drinking water, shower facilities, toilet facilities, a pot washing area and an Elsan disposal point. There is EHU available for motor homes, caravans and campervans. You can park your vehicle next to your tent or caravan.
They welcome families, walkers, cyclists, bikers and dogs. They have a rally field available.
From the site there are direct footpaths to Limestone Way, the High Peak and Tissington Trails and the Midshires Way. Just 5 minutes away by car there is a cycle hire point for families and individuals on the High Peak Trail at Parsley Hay.
The site has a bus stop on it and there are regular buses to Buxton and Ashbourne. You can get the bus schedule from the pub.
