Badgells Wood Camping

Set in beautiful ancient woodland, Badgells Wood Camping offers a wonderful back-to-nature experience. Guests can enjoy open fires, starry skies and secluded pitches amongst the trees. The site is ideal for entertaining children or for a relaxing getaway.

Badgells Wood Camping encompasses over 30 acres of woodland with a concrete track for access so guests don't have to worry about getting stuck in the mud. Guests can park off the side of the track and camp next to their car or tree. Badgells Wood Camping is set within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You are sure to plenty of bluebells, butterflies and badgers during your stay.

The park runs off-grid so it is back to nature but with gas powered showers, a washing-up area, WCs and recycling facilities. It is still rustic but with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. They have to tank up fresh water so they ask that you use it sparingly and that you please bring drinking water. They have some drinking water for sale on the site if you need it. They welcome open fires and guests can forage for wood or they will provide it when that runs out.

NEARBY ATTRACTIONS

Badgells Wood is part of the 250 acre Whitehorse Wood which guests can explore via the footpaths or they can follow the footpaths around Birling Estate.

If you want to enjoy a longer walk you can head off on one of the major national footpaths that run through the woods. Both the Weald Way and the North Downs way, which is part of the Pilgrims Way, are excellent long walks. Guests can wander as far as they want. If you are on one of the hiking trails you can always drop in on the site.

The local area is full of excellent hostelries. The Nevill Bull Pub in Birling is one of them. The owners Kate and Paul will give you a warm welcome and they will make sure that you are well fed. The Amazon and Tiger in Harvel and the Vigo Inn are both great for live music and comedy. In Meopham features The Cricketers and The Kings Arms. West Malling has every conceivable type of restaurant for those that want to travel a little further.

DIRECTIONS:

Badgells Wood is easily accessed from either the M20 (Junction 2 if heading south or Junction 2A on the M26 if heading North) or the M2/A2 (A227 turn-off to Wrotham & Gravesend).

We are just under 2.5 miles from the turning off the A227, between Meopham and Wrotham, near Vigo village. Turn onto Harvel Lane (signposted Vigo & Harvel - and with a brown sign for Trosley Country Park). If you are heading north the turning off the A227 is not long after the Vigo Pub on your right. If heading south and you get to the Vigo pub you have gone too far..!

Follow the road along for two miles and you will go past the turning on your left to Harvel (and Harvel House Farm Shop). Keep going for another ½ mile and you will see the entrance on your right (as the image above). Come and find Mike or Karina our wardens to say hello, park up and go and find your pitch in the woods..!
