Set in the rolling hills of Hampshire, Inwood Camping is a delightful woodland site with loads of space within the wood to roam. It takes at least 30 minutes to walk around the site and there are large areas of it which remain completely wild.
The site opened for a trial season last year during July and August. Inwood hopes to open a field for those campers that prefer to camp out in the open. They plan to upgrade their showers and toilets. Inwood hopes to maintain the high standard of the main toilet facilities of Forgewood.
The site is a large mixture of wood and pasture that is fronted by a lovely meadow. All of it is set in an undulating landscape. The camping area is in the glades, the woods or the meadow. Vehicles have access to the meadow as well as to some of the woodland pitches and meadows. Inwood can help you move your stuff.
Though camp fires are customary if dry weather continues there may be issues. If it remains dry the weather should be great for camping though.
There is a deluxe gas-powered shower in Portakabins and similar flushing toilets. The site plans of having its own dot composting loos and perhaps some showers around the site for those who don't want to walk that far.
Inwood is built of the foundation of old-fashioned camping. The site offers the freedom to walk and play in the woods. You can get away from it all while still being able to get a hot shower when required. Inwood believes their formula is working for campers and invites you to join them.
OUT AND ABOUT
This is Jane Ayre country with Alresford and Winchester a short drive away. Winchester is a grand provincial city, with a great cathedral and stuffed with historic monuments. Closer is Alresford an ancient market town with all its associated charms.
If you or your kids want 21st century entertainment, the Basingstoke Leisure centre has a fantastic pool with flumes, bowling and ice skating.
However at the end of the day Inwood is about getting away from it all, surrounded by trees in a beautiful natural habitat.
DIRECTIONS:
If you are coming south from the M25, follow the M3 to Junction 6, signed for Basingstoke. At the first roundabout follow the signs to Alton, avoiding the town centre. Follow signs to Alton over next 2 roundabouts on the A30. After passing underneath the M3 turn right to Alresford on the B3046. Go through Cliddesden and Farleigh Wallop. Inwood Camping is on your right directly accessed from the B3046. There will be a couple of signs to greet you.
Do not take the right turn to Dummer, the campsite is a little further down the road on the right,
