Old Mill Caravan Site
Old Mill Caravan Site is situated on West Kyloe Farm - a 600 acre beef, sheep and arable farm. It incorporates part of the Kyloe Hills which provide excellent walks with panoramic views of the coast, Kyloe Woods, the Cheviot Hills and Scotland.
North Northumberland is an area of outstanding natural beauty still little known to many people. Miles of beautiful heritage coastline boasting some of the finest sandy beaches anywhere and dotted with castles such as Bamburgh, Lindisfarne and Dunstanburgh. Boats sail regularly during the summer months to the Farne Islands from nearby Seahouses offering visitors a close up view of thousands of sea birds and seals which live and breed on these rocky outcrops. If a boat trip does not appeal then Holy Island (Lindisfarne) is accessible by car over the causeway at low tide.
Old Mill Caravan Site is a two acre 12 van touring site situated in a sunny secluded part of the farm overlooking the Mill pond.
The main area is level and there is a partly sloping area with the walled garden that accommodates four vans. There are several sites very suitable for motor homes. Tents are taken by special arrangement.
The site has electric hook ups for 12 vans. There is a utility block with three w.c.'s. a shower room, a large wet room (both with electric showers), a dishwashing room and an information room. The site and facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness. Visitors are asked to observe the site rules.
There are excellent walking areas around Old Mill Caravan Site and extensive walks are in the surrounding hills. A map of the farm and further details are provided in the information room. Dogs are welcome but should be kept on leads on the site and not allowed to foul on the mown grass.
The site is open from Easter to the end of October and advanced booking is essential during the holiday periods.
Visitors are welcome to explore and enjoy all the countryside surrounding the farm. Foxes and roe deer are a relatively common sight together with many varieties of birds, depending on the season.
Old Mill Caravan Site is within fifteen minutes drive of Northumberland National Park to the west, the Scottish border to the north and even closer to miles of uncrowded sandy beaches to the east.
Nearby there are many good golf courses, an excellent horse riding centre and permit fishing on the River Till. The farm is one mile from the 'St Cuthbert's Walk'.
Further inland there are a wealth of historic homes open to the public including Alnwick Castle and the now famous Alnwick Garden, Cragside, Chillingham Castle, Floors Castle to mention but a few.
Northumberland National Park and the Cheviot Hills offer wonderful opportunities to walk and explore wild, unspoilt country in comparative peace and solitude.
