Bouncers Farm

Situated in a quiet wooded area, Bouncers Farm Campsite delightfully slopes to the south. The entire site has a warm and friendly atmosphere. If you stay at the site during the first week of May you can experience the wonder of the orchard blossoming. You can pick from the orchard from August through to October.

A stay at Bouncers Farm Campsite allows the visitor to experience the lovely character of the free range chickens, the Kune Kune pigs and the flock of rare breed sheep on the site.

At the site the farm is hidden away down a narrow lane with high banks on either side. Trees form a tunnel overhead with their arching branches. The area of Wickham Bishops where the campsite is located used to be a thriving apple growing area. The few orchards that still remain give the lane a pleasant rural feeling.

Bouncers Farm Campsite is mostly quiet with very little noise intrusion. The only noise that breaks the silence is the song of birds, of which there are many varieties to hear. During the night time you can hear the calls of owls and sometimes the bark of a fox. It makes it a really special place to be. The site overlooks the water meadows and the River Blackwater with Danbury in the distance. The view from Bouncers Farm hasn't changed much since the site was built by the current owners grandfather in 1935.

They have a network of footpaths that lead holidaymakers from the site to Maldon and Chelmsford without them needing to use the highway. There are cycle routes that are maintained by Essex County along the Maldon to Chelmsford Navigation and the Blackwater Rail track that connects Witham to Maldon enables the use of green sustained transport.

GYPSY CAMPSITE:

This accommodation can sleep up to 4 people. It features 2 bowtop wagons that are genuine articles that have been carefully restored and set amidst the apple trees. Each bowtop is a bedroom and the bender tent with its day bed and wood burner makes it ideal for daytime living and cooking. It is a very cosy place in the evenings with the log burner lit. This accommodation is perfect for families or friends who are travelling together to escape to and enjoy the changing seasons from the abundant apple and cherry blossom in the spring, lambs in the adjacent fields, blue bells in the 300 year old copse and apple picking in the autumn. Just 4 miles away is the coast and its many secluded beaches. Within an hour by train you can reach the centre of London. The site makes an unusual and easy escape.

THE BUCCANEER TRAILER:

This accommodation can sleep from 2 to 4 people. It is an original wonderfully restored 1950's Gypsy accommodation. There is a generous sitting area with a wood burner. The trailer has its own private veranda which is a lovely place to enjoy the far reaching views overlooking Danbury ridge and open fields.

THE BURTON WAGON:

This accommodation can sleep 2 adults and 1 small child. It is an original wonderfully restored wooden wagon. It has a pull out generous double bunk where guests can wake up to views overlooking open fields and the site's 300 year old copse with a carpet of blue bells in May. The Burton Wagon has its own wood burning stove which makes it a wonderful cosy hideaway to relax in and spend an easy day with a good book or simply day dream.
