The Drum Inn is also in a great position for those touring Kent with Ashford, Canterbury and the coast only 15 minutes away.

The Inn introduced the campsite in 2010 and it has been received very well by both campers and tourers. There is a unisex shower and toilet room separate from the pub area which is available 24/7.

They offer 10 electric hook-ups, 14 touring pitches and tent pitches.

The Drum Inn Campsite offers a wide range of home cooked pub food. They have an ever-changing range of real ales that has been recognised by CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. They try to make sure that they have 4 ales on at any one time.

Originally called "Ye Olde Drum"?, The Drum Inn was built during the reign of Queen Anne in the year 1708.

The Drum Inn was built at a time when this part of Kent maintained a high level of military activity. It was frequented regularly by the Duke of Marlboroughs regiment, whose uniform colours are depicted on the sign outside.

There was a fierce battle that took place at the foot of Stone Street between a gang of smugglers and revenue men in 1760. Samuel Jackson, the leader of the smugglers, shot and killed a revenue office and wounded another before being captured and later hanged. There were 2 members of his gang who escaped and took refuge in an old stone barn that stood where The Drum Inn's car park is today.

The 2 member of his gang were found and flogged in the courtyard to the delight of the soldiers that were at the Inn. The 2 were sent to Maidstone to await trail and eventually they too were hanged.

They found a hoard of treasures when they pulled down the stone barn to make way for the car park including 2 tubs of contraband gin, a smugglers flash, a blunderbuss pistol and the original Inn Sign.
