Thurlmoor Caravan Site
Thurlmoor Caravan Site is in the tiny village of Carlecotes and is about 5 miles west of Penistone and 5 miles south-east of Holmfirth (Last of the Summer Wine country).
It's an elevated site with panoramic views, next to the excellent Pennine Trail and on the very edge of the Peak District National Park.
The Dog and Partridge Inn (which serves meals) is close by and Rocky's Western Trail Riding is less than a mile away. A bus stop is directly outside the site and destinations include Penistone, Barnsley, Holmfirth and Huddersfield.
DIRECTIONS
Travelling from the South: exit the M1 at junction 35A onto the A616 towards Manchester. Stay on the A616 for approx. 15 miles then turn left onto the B6106 (signed Holmfirth). Continue for approx. 1 mile and just before the right hand bend, take a left turn into Brook Hill. Proceed up the hill to the tiny village of Carlecotes. Pass all the houses on your right hand side until you have rounded two right hand bends (take care here as the road is quite narrow). Just as the road levels out, take the second gate on your left on to Thurlmoor Caravan Site.
Travelling from the North: exit the M1 at junction 37 onto the A628 for approx. 7 miles. Pass through Thurlstone and then to Millhouse Green where at the end of the straight stretch, as the road curves to the left, take the right fork (in front of the Blacksmith's Arms) onto the B6106. Follow this road for approx. 1.5 miles to the crossroads with the A616. Go straight across and continue for approx. 1 mile and just before the right hand bend, take a left turn into Brook Hill. Proceed up the hill to the tiny village of Carlecotes. Pass all the houses on your right hand side until you have rounded two right hand bends (take care here as the road is quite narrow). Just as the road levels out, take the second gate on your left onto Thurlmoor Caravan Site.
