Baysbrown Farm Campsite

Located in the village of Chapel Stile, Baysbrown Farm Campsite lies at the entrance to the spectacular Great Langdale Valley in the heart of the Lake District.

Baysbrown Farm Campsite is a working Lakeland farm that has an area set aside for camping. There are wonderful views from the campsite.

The park is a perfect location for fell walking and climbing. Some of the routes include Bowfell, Crinkle Crags, The Langdale Pike’s and Scafell Pike.

You can enjoy great low level walks through woodlands, valley bottoms and lovely villages, such as Elterwater. The park is a great base for exploring the local villages of Ambleside, Grasmere and Hawkeshead.

Baysbrown Farm Campsite has basic facilities. There are four men’s showers with eight toilets and five women’s showers with nine toilets. They also have a washing-up room, drinking water and a chemical toilet disposal point. There is also a waste and recycling point. The site welcomes pets onto the site.

The park can take small campervans and motor homes but they have a narrow entrance with a hump bridge which makes taking any larger vehicle an impossibility.

There are no hard standings or electric hook-ups on the site. The park operates on a first come first served basis and they do not take bookings. They do not take groups of larger than 4 unless they are families with children that are under 16 years of age. They have a place where you can charge your mobile phones.

The Lake District offers a huge-range of activities, attractions & places to visit that suit all interests and age ranges, here are just a few:

• Hill Top near Sawery, Hawkshead is the delightful 17th century farm house where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her children’s stories and where many of her beautiful treasures are on display.

• Brantwood House - Former home of John Ruskin, this is the most beautifully situated house in the Lake District.

• Dove Cottage was William Wordsworth’s first family home in Grasmere and you can see some his personal belongings.

• Holker Hall Gardens and Lakeland Motor Museum. One of the country’s best loved stately homes offering 125 acres of award winning gardens, courtyard café, Cumbrain food hall, and picnic area and adventure playground.

• Hutton-in-the-Forest is Lord and Lady Inglewood’s historic home and gardens. There is a fine collection of furniture, portraits, tapestries and china.

• Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway - Jump aboard the train at Haverthwaite Station. Enjoy views from your carriage up to Lakeside; the southern tip of Lake Windermere. Then if you fancy, combine the trip with a visit to The Lakes Aquarium or continue your journey aboard a Windermere Steamer to Bowness or Ambleside.

• Muncaster Castle - Home to the Pennington family for 800 years, Muncaster is a genuine treasure trove of art and antiques.

• Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is the Lake District’s longest and perhaps most spectacular steam railway.

• Rydal Mount and Gardens was William Wordsworth's home for 37 years. Walk in the beautiful, natural and unique gardens landscaped by the poet, sit in his summerhouse and enjoy the breathtaking views of the lakes and hills around Grasmere.
