OUT AND ABOUT

Rimington Caravan Park is overlooked by historic Pendle Hill, which is surrounded by several pretty villages and hamlets, some of which have strong connections with the story of the Pendle witches and are well worth a visit. There is a network of paths on and around the hill and the view from the summit on a clear day is stunning and well worth the effort.

The park is situated midway between the picturesque market towns of Clitheroe and Skipton and within easy driving distance to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, South Pennines, Haworth and Bronte Country and the Fylde Coast. Dunsop Bridge (The Centre of the Kingdom), the Forest Of Bowland (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and the Ribble Valley are on the doorstep.

If exploring the area is more your style then there is much to see and do, there are historic halls, castles and countless places of interest to visit. A wide range of information about the surrounding area is available in reception.

• Clitheroe (9 miles) - The ancient market town is located in the Ribble Valley. Clitheroe Castle, said to be the smallest Norman castle in England, is now home to a Museum and 16 acres of landscaped gardens, which houses attractions including a bandstand, children’s playground, skate-park and Lancashire’s first Labyrinth.

• Skipton (12 miles) - The ‘gateway’ to the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. The High Street leads up to the church, behind which you see the impressive facade of the 900 year-old castle, and Skipton Woods. Wander down the many alleyways or ‘ginnels’ to savour the town’s history and character. Explore the side streets where you will find individual shops, cafes and restaurants. Visit the canal area with boat trips, marina, footpaths and picnic areas.

• Settle (13 miles) - A bustling market town surrounded by delightful villages, ideally situated between the scenic Yorkshire Dales and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is the Forest of Bowland. With a wealth of interesting shops, welcoming cafes and historic buildings, Settle is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery by walking, riding, cycling, caving and a host of other outdoor activities. Home to the world-famous Settle-Carlisle Railway.
