North Coast Touring Park and Glamping Pods

North Coast Touring Park offers you the opportunity to get away from it all. It sits an half hour drive west of Thurso, which is the northern most town on the British mainland and has great access to the Orkney Islands.

The park has 11 hook-up pitches for tents, touring caravans and motorhomes and lots of space for tents. Also available are recenty built Glamping Pods.  These can sleep upto 4 or 7 people with Heaters, TV, Fridges & Crockery and local information.

The park sits adjacent to the Halladale Inn Bar & Bistro. The Bar is open all through the year and serves a wonderful selection of local foods and ales, with everything from breakfast, sandwiches, local fish & steak dinners with all the trimmings. All the ingredients are sourced from local businesses and often have home- baking too. The Halladale Inn opens Friday & Saturday to midnight and has regular live music and a monthly quiz.

North Coast Touring Park is in the village of Melvich which has a post office and a convenience store, so self-catering guests can get most of their essentials without needing to drive into Thurso. There is a local farm which offers buggy tours to see how a working farm works, see the local wildlife too and depending what time of year you visit you might be lucky to see lambs or calf's being born.

The park is a  short walk to the beach where there are boat and fishing trips While North Coast Touring Park is the perfect location for families looking to get away from it all, there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area.

The remote, rugged and dramatically beautiful landscapes that surround North Coast Touring Park are, for many, what makes this an irresistible holiday destination. And you won't need to travel far to see stunning views – just head to Melvich Bay.

Beyond Thurso, just under an hour's drive from North Coast Touring Park, you can discover the Castle of Mey, which was once the Queen Mother's home in Caithness, and enjoy walking through the gardens, too.

A trip to John O'Groats, which is a little over an hour's drive from North Coast Touring Park, is another attraction. Visit John O'Groats for its stunning wildlife, including puffins, seals and whales – and if this really takes your fancy, go to the RSPB's Dunnet Head reserve. You could also take a sea safari, which is an exhilarating way to see the coastline. Or enjoy coastal walks, either finding your own way or with a guide. From John O'Groats you are only a 40-minute boat trip away from the Orkney Islands.
