Packhorse Farm Campsite is located among some of Derbyshire's most beautiful scenery. It enjoys panoramic views towards Riber Castle from its quiet spot. This small campsite is a half mile from Tansley village and is a great base for exploring the Peak District. The site is only 2½ miles from Matlock's town centre and a 20 minute car ride from Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.

Nearby activities include walking, cycling and horse riding. The village of Tansley has 3 public houses that all accept children.

Packhorse Farm Campsite is on 50 acres of level and well-maintained ground. There is room for up to 50 pitches, 44 of which have electric hook-ups.

The excellent facilities include 7 showers, 6 toilets and separate wash cubicles for privacy. There are electric sockets for hair dryers and for mobile phone charging. They have disabled facilities and baby changing facilities as well.

Packhorse Farm Campsite is open all year round and you can have a cost effective holiday with a camping pitch at Packhorse Farm. There are many affordable attractions in the Peak District

The proper way marked route of Cuckoostone is only a 3½ mile walk away from the farm. Packhorse Farm Campsite has leaflets that have full details about the historic Matlock Moor and Lumsdale Valley. The leaflet has a full map and it could provide a good half a day of free entertainment. You can get the leaflet free of charge at the reception.

It costs £3.00 per day to park right outside of Chatsworth House. You can use their facilities such as their toilet, baby changing area, self-service restaurant and takeaway shop. You can have an impromptu picnic and serve delicious homemade pasties and scones as well as wonderful cream tea.

There are acres to explore in Chatsworth Country Park without paying any entrance fees. Distance from the farm 4 miles.

The High Peak Cycling trail near Middleton-by-Wirksworth provides traffic free cycling and walking (cycle hire available). Again facilities such as toilets and picnic tables provided free of charge for visitors The High Peak Trail is connected to the Tissington Trail for a further 30 miles of beautiful limestone scenery. Distance from the farm 5 miles.

Hall Leys Park situated in Matlock Town centre has recently had 2 million pounds of Lottery money spent on it providing a carefree day for families wanting low cost entertainment. The beautiful shallow paddling pool complete with fountains is a no cost attraction together with a skateboarding area. For a nominal cost there is also pitch and putt, motor boats on a small lake and tennis courts. There is plenty of seating in a beautiful formal garden and plenty of space for football and cricket. Distance from the farm 2.5 miles.

Matlock Bath only 3 miles away provides a lovely walk along the River Derwent, circular route includes crossing the two bridges and a small park and formal garden area. Beautiful ponds holding very large cold water fish and band stand area are all part of the Derwent Gardens. All free of charge, toilets and tourist information also available close by.
