Sands Caravanning & Camping Park

Sands Caravanning & Camping Park is set on the lovely west coast of the Highlands of Scotland. The park has unrivalled views of the Isle of Skye and Outer Hebrides. Sands Caravan and Camping Park is the perfect location for the holiday of your choice.

Guests can bring their own caravan, motor caravan or tent to the site. You can set up wherever you wish in the designated areas. There are sheltered spots among the sand dunes, raises pitches with unsurpassed views and more. Their large, spacious site has something for everyone to enjoy.

If you want to try something different you can stay in one of the site's wigwam cabins. They make a fun alternative to staying in a tent and they create a unique holiday experience. You can still camp outdoors with all of the comfort of your own heated, wooded wigwam.

Sands Caravanning & Camping Park has 5 Thistle graded holiday caravan homes for those that prefer some luxury. Every caravan has a spacious living area that is filled with attractive sofa furnishing where the entire family can relax.

The park makes a perfect base for exploring the best of Wester Ross, with the famous Torridon mountains to the south and the world renowned Inverewe Gardens to the north.

Guests can enjoy many varied and unique activities for the entire family in the area surrounding the park.

Nearby is the Flowerdale Estate which is the ancestral residence of the MacKenzies of Gairloch. It is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and it incorporates an amazing waterfall, an 18th century house and many great walks to suit those of all ages and ability. The estate is also home to Gairloch Trekking Centre, where beginners and more experienced riders can explore the beautiful landscape on horseback.

Guests can also visit Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve which is Scotland's oldest reserve. It was established in 1951 and offers woodland trails and mountain walks within the ancient pine forests that surround Loch Maree. This loch is famed for its wildlife. When you visit you are sure to see deer, dragon flies, golden eagles and crossbills. You could even be lucky enough to see a pair of nesting sea eagles.

Nearby Gairloch Harbour is home to many whale watching cruises that can take you around Gairloch Bay and into the Minch to see whales, dolphins, porpoises, pelagic birds and basking sharks. Badachro has Shellfish Safaris where you can reel in your own creel full of lobsters and prawns. You can also go on one of the many fishing cruises from the harbour. They have ones to suit all ages and abilities.

THE GREAT THINGS WE LIKE ABOUT THIS PARK:

1) Location - Dream camping spot next to a beach with lots of space for people to find their own secluded spot.

2) Views - Torridon mountains, Cullin mountains of Skye as well as the Outer Hebrides can all be seen from the campsite.

3) Great on site shop stocking almost everything you need for staying on site.

4) Great wildlife opportunities - There are regular sightings of Sea Eagles. Dolphins and Whales are also common in the bay and can be viewed from one of the boat trip operating out of Gairloch.

5) Walks for all abilities from Munros, to coastal strolls there will be a walk suitable for everyone.
