Situated between the historic village of Overton-on-Dee near Wrexham and the Lakelands of Ellesmere in Shropshire, The Trotting Mare Caravan Park is an Adults Only caravan park that is open all year round. The park is uniquely located on the border joining North Wales and Shropshire in England upon the A528.

The Trotting Mare Caravan Park lies in over 4 acres of idyllic, rural countryside. The caravan area is set back from the park's on-site Bistro Pub. It is a relatively small and peaceful site that offers a number of grass pitches and hard standing pitches that all feature electric hook-up points.

Facilities include showers, toilet facilities and wash basins for males and females in fully tiled and centrally heated blocks. The site has waste disposal units in consideration to the environment. The aim is to ensure that as much waste as possible is recycled.

STATIC CARAVANS FOR HIRE

There are 3 modern Caravan Holiday Homes  for hire - one of them pet free. Each has a double bedroom and a walk-in wardrobe and one single bedroom with wardrobe. Each provides all the necessary facilities for a complete self-catering holiday. Each has central heating and electric fire with fully equipped modern kitchen together with a dining area. The Lounge offers Digital Colour TV/DVD, 2 sofa's and foot stool. There is a shower room with large shower, wash basin and WC. On the park there is free WiFi.

Outside there is car parking for 1 car alongside each caravan, patio area with BBQ, patio table and chairs and parasol.

There are  2 large ponds on the site that guests can fish in, but they ask that guests return their catches to the ponds.

The Trotting Mare Caravan Park is an ideal base for exploring theWelsh and Shropshire countryside.

Overton is situated on the River Dee and enjoys magnificent views towards Llangollen. The picturesque village centre is a conservation area and features many interesting historical listed buildings, a number of small shops, places to get a bite to eat and an excellent public house. Many of the houses here can be traced back to the 18th Century. Overton is also home to St Mary's Church, which can be traced back as far as the Norman Conquest and is well known for its ancient churchyard yew trees which are one of the 'Seven Wonders of Wales'. There is a picnic area adjacent to the church where visitors can join the Maelor Walk, a 25 mile long footpath, or enjoy some of the 40 miles of public footpaths that run through the surrounding countryside. Nearby attractions include the Nine Meres of Ellesmere and the historic city of Chester.

Erddig: A completely furnished 18th-century large country house that has one of the last surviving 18th-century gardens. Erddig offers an unique insight into servants' life in the 18th and 19th century and is situated in extensive designed parkland with 13 miles of footpaths.

Chirk Castle: The last Edward I Welsh castle still lived in today with 700 years of history on one site set in a stunning location with views over nine counties. Award winning gardens with thatched 'Hawk House', shrub garden, lime tree avenue and yew topiary with a circular woodland walk through the medieval hunting park.

Historic Chester: Stroll through 2,000 years of history in the ancient streets, walk the ancient walls (Chester has the most complete city walls in Britain) and meander along the banks of the River Dee.   Shop till you drop in the most compact shopping centre in Britain thanks to the world famous Rows, two-tier medieval galleries of shops.

Lake Vyrnwy: A man-made water reservoir with a perimeter road 11.75 miles long.The huge masonry dam was started in 1881 by the Corporation of Liverpool to create a new fresh water supply for their city. With 16,000 acres being a dedicated RSPB reserve, Lake Vyrnwy is a country lover's paradise where peace and tranquility abounds.

Dearnford Hall Trout Fishery; This offers something for all kinds on angler from seasoned veterans to the complete novice. Stocked with Rainbow and Brown Trout the lake is naturally fed by pure spring water and covers 15 acres.

Llanrhaedr Waterfall: Pistyll Rhaeadr is the highest waterfall in Wales and England and is accessed from the village of Llanrhaeadr - ym - Mochnant. Waters of River Disgynfa cascade 240ft down mossy pineflanked cliff and through natural arch into deep pool.
