Cheston Caravan and Camping Park

A quiet, family-run site, Cheston Caravan and Camping Park is well-maintained and includes all the normal facilities like electric hook-ups, toilets and showers. They welcome tents to their site.

The park is great as a tranquil base for touring the West Country. Guests can go walking, horse riding, bird watching, fishing and relaxing on beaches.

Just a short drive away from the site are the rugged tors, moorland, wooded valleys and the picturesque villages of Dartmoor. Within easy reach, guests can also visit Torquay, Paignton, Plymouth and Exeter.

Cheston Caravan and Camping Park is centrally located for visiting all of the attractions of Devon. Guests can enjoy Buckfast Abbey, Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Dartmeet, and can also venture out to Cornwall.

You can also plan a day trip to the Eden Project, as well as some of the lovely fishing villages.

• Located in Devon, England, Buckfast Abbey is the home of a Roman Catholic Community of Benedictine monks. They founded the monastery in 1018, but it was later suppressed by Henry VIII in 1539. They refounded Buckfast Abbey in 1882. Monks rebuilt the Abbey Church themselves. The site now welcomes almost half a million visitors every year.

• Famous worldwide for its beauty, Badgers Holt at Dartmeet was once an old fishing lodge that belonged to the Manor of Spitchwick. Spitchwick was mentioned in the Domesday Book. Here you can see the Clapper Bridge or the Old Packhorse Bridge, which is some 2000 years old.

• An International Visitor Destination, the Eden Project is a global garden for the 21st century and beyond. This dramatic site tells the fascinating story of people’s dependence on plants and shows a gateway to a sustainable future. This wonderful Cornwall attraction brings the stories of our world to life.

• Located in a valley on the eastern side of Dartmoor Forest, Widecombe-in-the-Moor is a picturesque, scattered village. Their parish is a detached member of Haytor Hundred. It rises boldly in the hills of the River Dart and several of its tributary streams. In recent years they have made huge improvements in the forest farms. Here you can see St. Pancras, which is a large, ancient structure that features a lofty tower and 6 bells.

DIRECTIONS

From Exeter: After bypassing South Brent, turn left at Wrangaton Cross.

From Plymouth: Take South Brent/Woodpecker exit. Stay in right hand lane, at T-junction, turn right and go under A38, re-join A38 and then follow as from Exeter.
