Tyn-yr-Onnen is a family-run caravan and camping site set on a traditional working Welsh hill farm. The site lies on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park in between the Moel Eilio and Mynydd Mawr Mountains.
The Griffith family has owned this 180 acre sheep farm for over 300 years. The farm features many other animals including donkeys, llamas, pigs, chickens, ducks and turkeys. In the spring visitors can see new born lambs.
The farm is the perfect place for those who want to experience the outdoors, enjoy the breath taking scenery and go off of the beaten track.
Tyn-yr-Onnen features sheltered pitches. Electric hook-ups are available if needed. The site features a recently refurbished toilet block with free hot showers, baby changing facilities, facilities for the disabled and a utility room.
The site features a children’s play area, a television room, table tennis and a pool table. They allow camp fires in one of their camping fields as they believe it is an essential part of camping. They have plenty of room for BBQs on-site. You can call them if you are interested in Wild Camping.
The farm also features self-catered accommodations. There are 3 lodges and a modern static caravan for hire. These allow guests to enjoy the quiet picturesque location with added luxury.
There are hundreds of acres of heath land to explore from Tyn-yr-Onnen. There are many walks great for beginners and those who are more skilled can walk to the top of Snowdon right from the farm. The family is happy to recommend their favourite walks to guests.
The area has plenty of other attractions as well. There are castles to see in Caernarfon, Bangor, Beaumaris and Harlech. You can relax on the beautiful beaches of the Llyn peninsula and Anglesey. Other nearby attractions include Electric Mountain, Llanberis Slate Museum, lakes, Rope Adventures and diving.
