Senlac Wood

Set in the heart of 1066 county, Senlac Wood is a unique and beautiful site; set in twenty acres of woodland within the High Weald designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Senlac wood is ideal for relaxation or a base for visiting many of the local attractions and historical places of interest.

On site facilities include: Grass and hard standing pitches, 16 amp electric hook up, heated toilet and shower block, refurbished in 2016, washing facilities, games room, childs play area, eaterie and licensed bar. We also have a tourist information point.

There is always plenty to see and do near Senlac Wood – the area has caves, golf, horse-riding, fishing, seaside attractions, shopping, castles and monuments, some fabulous walking country and much more.

∗ Battle Abbey: On 14 October 1066 an army of invading Normans defeated the English at the Battle of Hastings in East Sussex. Now the whole family can discover the exciting story of that fateful day at the very place it happened.

∗ Yesterday’s World, Battle: Step back in time on an incredible journey, going back over 100 years, at this award winning museum attraction. Yesterday’s World is in the historic market town of Battle right in the heart of 1066 Country.

∗ Wylands International Angling Centre
Wylands has 10 fantastic fishing lakes for the specialist, match or pleasure angler, great facilities, plus friendly, expert advice.

∗ Herstmonceux Village – Gardens and Grounds of Hersmonceux Castle and The Observatory Science Centre – an exciting science centre with hands on science for all ages whatever the weather.

∗ Discover Hastings: Smugglers caves, the Blue Reef Aquarium and Hastings Castle – 3 great attractions – one fantastic family day out.

∗ Bexhill on Sea – Leisure Centre, Swimming Pool, Bowling, Del a War Centre, shops and beach.

∗ Eastbourne – Cinema, Leisure Centre – Swimming pool, seaside attractions, shopping, restaurants, Pevensey Castle.

∗ Batemans, Burwash (home of Kipling): Surrounded by the wooded landscape of the Sussex Weald, this 17th-century house (now owned by the National Trust), provided a much needed sanctuary to this world-famous writer.

∗ Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway: The Railway is probably best known for its superb fleet of one-third full size steam and diesel locomotives. All of the steam locomotives were built between 1925 and 1937.

∗ Rye: Perched on a hill, overlooking the River Rother and Romney Marsh, this ancient town is the sort of place you thought existed only in your imagination.


From M25, take Junction 5 (A21 Sevenoaks, Hastings), Follow A21 to Johns Cross then take A2100 to Battle. At Battle take A271 for one and a half miles, then turn left after passing Squirrels P.H (B2204)
