Minnows Touring Park (Adults Only)

Set in a lovely intimate location, Minnows Touring Park is bordered by the Grand Western Canal Country Park. You can see scenic countryside views from the site. It is situated in the middle of Devon and its character is of a hidden gem that has been forgotten by the busy world. This central placement, though, means that the park allows easy access to the numerous attractions that are available in Devon.

Minnows Touring Park encompasses 5½ acres of land. They are set just a short walk from the village of Sampford Peverell. They offer guests 59 landscaped pitches, all of which are all-weather hard standings with 16 amp electrical hook-ups. The pitches are ideal for motor vans and are great for both late and early season touring. A total of 14 of the all-weather pitches are fully-serviced.
They have divided the park into 3 different pitching areas. Their “Meadow” area features 13 pitches that can be hired by rallies.

The park features a modern heated toilet, shower and utility block with full disabled facilities and has constant hot water for no additional charge. They have a covered washing-up area and a vegetable preparation room. Their launderette has a modern commercial front-loading washing machine, a tumble dryer, a hand-washing sink and a spin dryer. We provide an ironing board and iron.
There is Wi-Fi available on the site.

Minnows Touring Park has an on-site tourist information centre that has a wide range of information on walking, cycling, fishing, pubs, restaurants and the local attractions of the area.
The park is conveniently located in open countryside just ¾ mile from Junction 27 of the M5. Because of the easy road access from the site you can easily reach the surfing beaches of the North Coast, the sheltered South Coast resorts, Exmoor and Dartmoor, the Somerset Levels and Blackdown Hills.

• The Tiverton Horse Drawn Barge is one of the last remaining horse-drawn barges in the UK, a trip on the “Tivertonian” offers a truly unique and memorable experience of yesteryear for you and your family to enjoy.
• Knightshayes Court (National Trust) is a country estate on a grand, gothic scale. There are acres of glorious gardens and parkland, surrounding a spectacular Gothic Revival house.
• Tiverton Castle evokes a real feeling of history. Originally built in 1106 but all periods of architecture from medieval to modern can be seen, with beautiful walled gardens within the romantic ruins.
West Somerset Railway with historic steam locomotives, coaches and wagons, and the buildings of ten unique stations linked by a twenty mile scenic journey.
Coldharbour Mill is one of the oldest woollen mills in the UK, hosting steam days. As well as the mill it also offers a tea room and gift shop.

You can also forget the car and spend time on the walking and cycling routes from the site. Just on the other side of the hedge is The Grand Western Canal. The park has its own access gate directly onto the towpath. This trail provides miles of level walking through middle Devon countryside. You will see an abundance of wild flowers and birds all around you. It is 7 miles west to Tiverton or 5 miles east to the end of the navigable section on the Devon border. The walk continues 12 miles into Somerset following the course of the canal all the way to Taunton where it once connected to the Taunton and Bridgewater Canal.
The canal towpath is part of The West Country Cycle Way or Sustrans National Cycle Route. Cyclists will find that it provides safe off road cycling for all of the family. Those who are more adventurous can try the circular routes from the canal into the Mid-Devon countryside and villages. It goes through the Exe Valley, Lowman Valley, Culm Valley and Blackdown Hills. You can access all of this from the site with your bicycle.

Those who prefer relaxing on their holiday can take an evening walk to Sampford Peverell for a drink and a meal. You can reach the village in just 15 minutes along the towpath. There you will find 2 pubs. They also have a post office with a Spar mini market, a great farm shop, tennis courts, a golf driving range and a short golf course. There are buses that run from the village to Tiverton or Exeter every hour.
Those who enjoy angling will find excellent coarse fishing on the canal, which is famous for its tench. You will also find numerous good fishing lakes and ponds near the park. You can also try fly fishing on the River Exe.
Why not enjoy canoeing and boating on the canal safely. The park has its own landing stage and a launching slip nearby for trailed boats. You can purchase fishing and boating permits from the park’s reception office.
