Other opportunities for walking are also provided by the beach itself and the path alongside the village’s 9-hole links golf course. Dedicated walkers will enjoy more challenging routes over the cliffs to Fleswick Bay and ultimately to the beautiful, historic port of Whitehaven, four miles to the north. Really ambitious walkers will know that St Bees Beach marks the beginning of Alfred Wainwright’s now world-famous Coast to Coast Walk, 190 miles from St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire.
Leave the M6 at junction 40 and take the A66 west for approximately 35 mile. Take the A595 towards WHITEHAVEN. Keep on the A595, by-passing the town center.
