Renfrewshire Campsites and Holiday Parks

Situated on the Clyde estuary, Greenock was an important industrial , and shipbuilding town, suffering severe bomb damage in World War II. Among other exhibits in the McLean Museum and Art Gallery are those connected with shipping, and relics of James Watt, inventor of steam power, was born here in 1736.

The Museum and Art Gallery houses a priceless collection of the Paisley shawls for which the town has been famous for more than 200 years; their distinctive pattern was introduced from Kashmir in 1770. Paisley’s most attractive building is the 17th-century Place of Paisley, a tall building with crow-stepped gables.
