Top 10+1 Camping Hicks you'll wish you knew before...

I’m all for a hack here and there to make life easier. Whether you’re heading to fields or looking for camping festivals hacks here are our top 10+1:

Camping Hacks:

  1. Store your scrambled eggs in a bottle. Keep the egg trays and pack them with coal, this is a great way to keep the fire going.
  2. If your party includes a toddler or two take a permanent marker and write on their hand the site number.
  3. There are tonnes of pricey storage gadgets, but why not get yourself a shoe organiser and use it for keeping all your supplies in order? It is best to go with a Velcro option rather than over the door which should give you more options of where to hang your bits and bats.
  4. If it’s a hot day, cover your tent with an emergency reflective blanket to keep your boudoir cool. Check out our suggestion which comes as a pack of 10 at under £1 each – we would call that lifetime supply!
  5. Sledges aren’t just for snow. If you’re car camping this is an easy way to get your large items from A to B. These come at a fraction of the cost of than some of the trailers and you’re guaranteed to get one out of season at a good price. Make sure you get one with rope or it’s going to defeat the whole point of making life easier.
  6. Get a head torch– they don’t just look great (haha) but you’ll be grateful once the sun sets and you’re in search of the loo. I recommend a battery powered piece so you’ve got one less thing to charge.
  7. Carefully cover your shoes and laces with a thin layer of candle wax, this will make them more resistant in wet weather and easier to clean after a muddy day in the outdoors. If you find a zip which keeps sticking run the candle over this too.
  8. Mint keeps the mosquitoes at bay, add some to your fire and enjoy your meal outdoors without becoming a critters dessert.
  9. Use a bottle of frozen water to keep your cooler cold, the ice will melt slower and less mess and sludge to clear out.
  10. Cash! Take small change and notes with you. Finding an ATM to pay for that 99p ice cream can be a pain.
  11. Our final camping hack is to put some holes in the lid of an old bottle, this is great for when you need to rinse your hands or something covered in muck!
