Slapton Sands is the perfect place for a family holiday. Lovely sea views and a predominance of tents (only eight caravans are allowed) give a relaxed feel. A shingle beach is very close, with sandy ones on each side.
The shingle beach at Slapton Sands separates the sea from a fresh water lagoon, Slapton Ley. This is a National Nature Reserve.
The South Devon Heritage Coast has some of the countrys loveliest sandy beaches. Blackpool Sands and Bigbury on Sea both hold prestigious Blue Flag Awards.
Start Point lighthouse is open to visitors. It has the original signal flags on display, as well as stunning views.
Woodlands is a good family day out. It has rides, animals and indoor play.
Dartmouth can be reached by public transport. At the head of the River Dart, the town has winding medieval streets and a ferry across the river to Kingswear.
Take the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway towards Torquay.
Torquay is a traditional seaside town on the English Riviera. Explore the Bygones Museum of nostalgia.
Brunel Woods was once owned by the well-known Victorian engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
There are many lovely walks in the area, especially those along the coast or inland on Dartmoor.
The Devonshire Collection of Period Costume is in Totnes.
Seabreeze runs kite surfing, kite buggying, kayaking and wave skiing excursions from the beach, a mile and a half from Site. Salcombe is well known for sailing.
