The winner of many top-quality awards, Park Cliffe is set in 25 acres of picture-postcard countryside above the eastern shores of Windermere with sweeping views across the lake. Yet family-owned Park Cliffe is only a short drive from the M6, putting it within easy reach of many major towns and cities in northern England.
Do not come to Park Cliffe if it is discos, clubs and fairgrounds you are after. For here, the pleasures all come naturally. Apart from the stunning lake and mountain scenery, there is a great choice of walks and an abundance of wildlife to spot. In fact, TV botanist David Bellamy is an especially big fan of Park Cliffe, and has presented it with his prestigious Gold Conservation Award for its work in protecting the natural environment.
Park Cliffe is the Cumbria Tourism Holiday Park of the Year 2011 winner and other recent accolades include a silver award in the England for Excellence awards, putting it among the top three parks in the country.
Cumbria, of course, offers many places to visit and things to do and Park Cliffe offers the perfect base for exploring this beautiful area. There are lots of great walks right on the doorstep and the park’s natural features – especially the meandering shallow beck – are even more popular with children than our specially designed adventure play area!
TOURING AND MOTORHOMES:
The touring park offers spacious pitches, thoughtfully designed into the natural contours of the park. All pitches are gravel hard standing with electricity, drinking water and waste drainage. Please note hard ground awning pegs are required.
Most pitches have beautiful views of Moor How, which is easily accessible through the children's playground. This relatively small hill (229m) affords spectacular views over Lake Windermere and to the Langdales beyond, and it is well worth to climb to the top. Take a picnic lunch, or in the evening watch the sunset over the lake- this is unspoilt nature at its best.
For more on the walks in the area, please visit our reception, where our staff will be happy to give help and advice or visit our 'things to do' page where you can find lots of information about what to see and where to go whilst on holiday in the Lake District.
CAMPING:
At Park Cliffe we have two camping areas for tents. The first, Ghyll Side, allows you to reserve your pitch, with electrical hook-up if you so desire. This area is across a minor lane from the main park. These pitches are allocated by size, therefore we need the know the size of your tent in metres, when making a booking.
The second area, Fell Side, offers magnificent views down the lake towards the Langdale Pikes and across to Coniston Old Man from its undulating slopes. On Fell Side you choose your own area to camp.
And if you want the height of luxury whilst you are camping, why not hire one of our private bathrooms for your own personal use. These cost just £14.00 per night.
CAMPING PODS:
Pod: a locally made small timber hut with a wraparound roof, well insulated with sheep's wool and with a special foil layer under the tiles to keep summer temperatures in check. What better way to stay in the great outdoors!
Each pod has plenty of headroom and with a floor area of 3.5m x 2.3m provides ample space for 2 adults and even 1-2 small children. The Pods have a carpeted floor and a double socket with a light and small heater. A small deck at the front provides a sitting area. The Pods are situated on Ghyllside, this area is across a minor road from the main park. Sorry we are unable to accept pets or allow smoking in the pods.
All you need to bring is your camping gear - minus the tent, a great experience for those who want a bit more comfort!
CARAVAN HOLIDAY HOMES
Park Cliffe is set in peaceful rural surroundings, with some stunning views of the lake and mountains, and yet is only 4 miles from the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere, in the heart of the Lake District. From the estate you are in easy reach of all the main tourist attractions, the central fells, and also the shopping towns of Kendal and Barrow. The privately owned caravan holiday homes and lodges are peacefully situated in a separate area of the park, but still enjoy easy access to all facilities. What better way to enjoy the glorious Lakeland scenery at each day’s end than from your own ‘room with a view’ at scenic Park Cliffe.
A holiday home gives you the freedom to escape when-ever you choose; no more trying to book last minute breaks only to be disappointed, no more airport queues, your country retreat is always here for you and your family. Come and see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.
For further information on caravan holiday homes and holiday lodges for sale and current charges, please contact us or call on 015395 31344.
This is not a large ‘commercial’ park – it is independent, family owned and run, and sympathetically developed to blend in with the natural surroundings. Our aim is to provide every facility to enhance your stays with us, whilst not forgetting the beautiful landscape around us. We have held the David Bellamy Gold award for 5 successive years. On the park we have a bar, restaurant and shop, as well as a launderette, and children’s play area. Our reception is well stocked with tourist information, and our staff are always on hand to give advice, and to help in any way they can.
And yet, whilst the park offers all the facilities you would expect from a 5 star site, the estate is also a peaceful haven away from the demands of a busy life, and whatever your interests, be it walking, sailing, or just chilling out on the deck with a good book, Park Cliffe is the place for you.
We also have three two bedroom caravan holiday homes available for hire situated on the main park adjacent to the facilities. These offer modern, fully equipped accommodation for up to 4 persons with all your home comforts.
