Monstay Farm - a small certified campsite close to the historic town of Ludlow in the Welsh Marches.
Monstay is a traditional working farm set within the beautiful surroundings of the Mortimer Forest.
From the campsite there is easy access to the forest, where a wide variety of wildlife and leisure activities can be found. The site also provides an excellent base for exploring the local area.
The farm has ccess to miles of footpaths and bridleways without the need to go onto roads. The Mortimer Trail passes within 500m of the farm and the Herefordshire Trail and Shropshire Way are also nearby.
The Mortimer Forest Geology Trail runs between the car park opposite the farm and Ludlow - The South Shropshire area is one of the most interesting geological areas in England.
The farm is being managed sensitively to encourage a rich diversity of wildlife. Species seen recently include Roe Deer, Fallow Deer, Red Kites, Dormice, Tawny Owls, Palmate Newts, Slow Worms, Orchids, Fritillary Butterflies, several species of bat and many others.
DIRECTIONS:
A49 from Shrewsbury, past Ludlow, then take B4361 back into Ludlow. Just before bridge with traffic lights, turn left signpost Wigmore & Burrington. After 3m uphill road starts to go down, site is next drive on right. (0.5m up to farm).
