Our Club Site at Lynton is beautifully located right above the Exmoor coast, with panoramic views over to Wales from many pitches. The area is a walker’s paradise, with coastal walks and the Exmoor National Park both nearby.
• Take the footpath from the Site through a wooded valley to the retreat centre at Lee Abbey.
Dolphins visit Lee Bay, wild goats are in the Valley of the Rocks and the views are spectacular.
• Lynton town has many shops, tea rooms and other places to eat out.
• The Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway connects the two towns. The unique Victorian lift is water-powered.
• Buses stop near the Site and go to Barnstaple and Ilfracombe or Porlock and Minehead.
• Exmoor Zoo specialises in smaller animals, from tiny monkeys to the largest rodent in the world.
• The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway runs narrow gauge steam trains from Woody Bay station. It has some lovely views.
• The Royal Horticultural Society garden at Rosemoor has rose gardens, children’s trails, model gardens and more.
• Combe Martin has a Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and the UK’s only wolf education and research centre.
• Watermouth Castle has a family theme park and castle treasures.
• See Exmoor on horseback from Outovercott Riding Stables. Treks go along the Lyn river valley, over the moor or around the coast.
• Arlington Court is managed by the National Trust and houses its carriage collection. Carriage rides are available in the grounds.
• The famous beaches of North Devon are excellent for surfing and other watersports.
• South Molton is home to a honey farm, chocolate factory and a local museum complete with cider press.
