Borders Hideaway, as it's name implies,is secretly tucked away on the border of England and Wales. Situated in a valley above the sleepy village of Clyro, of which the famous Victorian diarist Frances Kilvert was the curate, on the Welsh side of the meandering River Wye, opposite the quaint, rural town of Hay-on-Wye.
Hay dates back to Norman times from which the name Hay means fenced or hedged enclosure, eluding to its then strategic importance.
Hay-on-Wye is renowned globally as the Town of Books, due to its vast array of second hand book shops, however it also boasts a wide variety of galleries, antique & gift shops, taverns, tea rooms, etc, offering an extensive choice for the discerning visitor. The annual Hay Festival attracts visitors from all over the world.
Borders Hideaway provides a haven of peace and tranquil relaxation with panoramic views over fertile green and pleasant countryside; being only a small but well spaced park, it promises idyllic solitude.

If you love the natural beauty of agricultural landscapes, you will be entranced by the locality. Enjoy traditional past-times of pony trekking, bird watching, salmon and trout fishing, clay pigeon shooting, cycling; as well as country & mountain walking, the Offas Dyke path & Wye Valley Walk. For the more energetic there is canoeing, abseiling, rope climbing, caving, gorge walking, quad biking, white water rafting, etc.
DIRECTIONS
To find Borders Hideaway, upon entering Clyro on the A438 (Leominster to Brecon)look out for the brown tourist Caravan and Camping signs which will direct you towards Painscastle. Follow the caravan signs for one mile and you will arrive at the park.
